Sophomore Jake Richter

Jake Richter is a sophomore at Gibson Southern. He is a part of the football and swim team here. Jake is a very intelligent and hardworking individual.

Southerner: How do you expect to perform in the Sectional for swimming?

Richter: “I expect the competition to be very hard and know that it is going to be a tough race to place high in, but I’m just planning on doing the best that I can in comparison with everyone else.” 

Southerner: What made you want to join the swim team?

Richter: “Both of my sisters swam before I was In high school, and they were both pretty good and had broken records, so I thought that if they are good at it, then I am probably good at it as well.”

Southerner: As an individual, what do you want to achieve next year in swimming and football?

Richter: “As an individual, I just want to increase my athleticism and make my sprint times lower so we can go farther in big meets, such as Sectional.”

Southerner: How do you train your body for the sports you play?

Richter: “On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, I swim at Tecumseh and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, I also train in the weightroom.”

Southerner: As a second semester sophomore, how have you enjoyed high school so far?

Richter: “I have enjoyed my couple years here so far. The people here are very friendly, and I feel like we all get along very well.”

Southerner: What do you like to do in your free time?

Richter: “In my free time, I like to just hang out with my friends and go to youth group events while also doing hobbies such as hunting and fishing.”

Southerner: What would you like to do after graduation?

Richter: “When I graduate, I want to go to Purdue and study to be a mechanical engineer.”

Southerner: If you’re going to college, where would you like to go?

Richter: “I would like to go to Purdue University. One of my older sisters currently goes there, and my other sister just got accepted, so I feel it would be cool if my whole family went there.”
