Kayley Conway is the College Connection coach for Gibson County schools. This is her second year in the position, and she shares her time evenly between the three high schools. She formerly attended Princeton Community High School, then went on to study at the University of Southern Indiana.

Southerner: What are some of your hidden talents?
Conway: “My hidden talent is I can probably take the world’s longest nap if I was given the chance.”
Southerner: What school did you attend?
Conway: “I attended Princeton Community High School and University of Southern Indiana as my college.”
Southerner: What would students be surprised to find out about you?
Conway: “My students would be surprised when I tell them I’m an only child.””
Southerner: What is your dream vacation?
Conway: “My dream vacation is anywhere tropical.”
Southerner: Where did you work prior to Gibson Southern?
Conway: “I worked at the Department of Child Services before I worked here.”
Southerner: What do you think is the most interesting thing about your life?
Conway: “I don’t have many interesting things. I have two cats, that’s about it.”
Southerner: What job do you think everyone should have at one point in life?
Conway: “I think everyone should be in the service industry. You really get a full training of everything in those jobs.”
Southerner: What are some of your pet peeves?
Conway: “When someone ignores me while I’m driving in the fast lane and [when] the person in front of me isn’t going the speed limit.”
Southerner: If you could choose one song to play every time you walk in a room, what song and why?
Conway: “If I could choose one song to walk into [it] would be any Elvis song, it’s hard to choose just one.”
Southerner: What was your favorite class in high school?
Conway: “My favorite class in high school was literature. I love reading.”
Southerner: What led you on your career path?
Conway: “I know I loved helping people and working with kids. I have a passion for helping people who are in need and being people’s support when they need it the most.”
Southerner: What would make the world a better place for everyone?
Conway: “If we had more resources for people who need it, like therapy.”
Southerner: What is your teaching philosophy?
Conway: “I want my students to know that no matter what, I am always there for them. That is what I am here for, to be a support for my students.”
Southerner: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Conway: “Enjoy the moment while you can. It goes by way too fast.”
Southerner: What is your all-time favorite series?
Conway: “My favorite TV series would be ‘The Office.’”
Southerner: What is your spirit animal?
Conway: “An orca, they are beautiful creatures but fierce when they need to be.”
Southerner: What makes a good teacher?
Conway: “Being there for your students and being able to have a shoulder to lean on when you need it and being comfortable going to that teacher.”
Southerner: What book has made the biggest impact on you?
Conway: “The biggest book series that has the biggest impact on me is the ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ series, that book taught me no matter what life throws at you, you can always overcome it.”
