Freshman Eli Long may not be the most well-known individual at Gibson Southern, but he is interesting nonetheless. Long is fascinated by books of many genres, video games and likes to travel. He has been to many interesting destinations including Las Vegas and Mexico. Long is kind and has great ambitions for his future.
The Southerner: What are your favorite and least favorite subjects?
Long: “My favorite subject has to be game design. I’m in that class, it’s amazing. My least favorite has to be history because I’m not doing the best in it, I will admit.”
The Southerner: What’s your favorite movie?
Long: “My favorite movie of all time has to be the Harry Potter series, all of them. I can’t choose which one. I’m a big fan of fantasy novels, so I read and watched Harry Potter. It was just a big hit for me.”
The Southerner: What do you want to do after high school?
Long: “I’m planning on going to IU college and then I’m going to take classes to be a videogame programmer or designer. I also want to try to do YouTube. I plan on doing a lot of categories: gaming, music, and try to do a garage YouTube channel.”
The Southerner: If you could go anywhere in the world for a week, where would you want to go?
Long: “I have always wanted to go to Paris. It’s a beautiful place. I want to be there, sitting, watching below the Eiffel Tower.”
The Southerner: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would you wish for?
Long: “A paper where anything I write on it comes to life. I’d also ask for infinite money and infinite happiness for me and my family.”
The Southerner: What’s your favorite thing about high school?
Long: “My favorite thing about high school is the freedom of it because even over at middle school, there wasn’t much breathing room. But here, I can just walk freely in between periods, it’s just nice.”
The Southerner: What’s your favorite sports team(s)?
Long: “I watch a lot of baseball. There’s two teams I’m split between because they’re my two parents’ favorites: the Dodgers and the Cubs. I’ve been to an Otter’s game once. It really was a good time, but it started storming, and we had to leave early.”
The Southerner: What’s your favorite restaurant?
Long: “That’s hard, I like them all. If I had to choose one, probably the fanciest one I’ve been to. This place in Las Vegas, I think it’s called Bacchanal. It was a really fancy buffet, and it’s nothing like you’ve ever seen. I got to go with my aunt who lives there.”
The Southerner: What are your hobbies?
Long: “I like to play video games and read, but other than that, I like to do a bit of jogging on the treadmill. I also like to hang out with my family and friends, but I don’t get to go out much. Every Thursday, I get to go to DND. I also read mangas and read about the anime culture. The style manga I read isn’t the same style reading as us where we read right to left. They’re read left to right. It’s hard to get used to at first, but I’m used to it now and can read both ways easily.”
The Southerner: What is your favorite dessert?
Long: “My favorite dessert has got to be chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I cannot get enough of that.”
The Southerner: Would you consider a hot dog a sandwich?
Long: “No, it has to be two separate pieces for it to be a sandwich. The bread is connected. And, if you eat it separate, then it’s like a subway sub now. It’s no longer a hot dog.”
The Southerner: Are you a cat or a dog person?
Long: “Cat, but I like dogs too. I just prefer cats. I have two dogs, sadly no cats.”
