These past four years of high school have been an interesting experience, to say the least. First, starting with freshman year going to school during COVID, then sophomore year things finally getting back to normal, junior year being loaded with after-school clubs and homework, to now finally, senior year.
High school has been a rollercoaster of emotions with not a single year that I would consider ‘normal.’ I have had a mix of both good and bad experiences, but in the end, I am very glad I was able to experience all this.
Not only have I done a lot in school, but out of school as well. Between traveling to different countries, starting a podcast, discovering new hobbies, making new friends, and so much more, I have really been able to experience so many different things which I am very grateful for. Within these four years, I have learned so much about myself and really found what makes me happy.
During my time here, I was able to make many new friends and even grow closer with a few of my old ones. So many teachers and students have really made my time at Gibson Southern great and there are so many people that I want to thank.
First, I wanted to start with my best friend, Eva Spindler. I can not believe we are finally graduating high school. I feel like we have talked about this for so many years, not thinking that the day would actually come. It’s so wild to think this was our last school year together after 10 years. I’m so glad that we got to spend a lot of our school and internship time together, I could not imagine going through high school without you. I don’t think I’ve really processed the fact that we will be going to different schools and not seeing each other every day, but I know we are both going to do great things after we graduate.
Next, I want to mention my fellow senior newspaper reporter Aaron Meny. Out of all four years of high school, newspaper is one of two classes that we’ve had together, which is wild. Both elementary school and Spanish class have been fun, but newspaper definitely was the best of those. I wish we had both taken newspaper earlier, but I’m glad we at least took this class our senior year. You are super talented and I’m very excited to see what you do after we graduate.
To both Mrs. Russell and Bledsoe, thank you both for giving me such a great opportunity to have such a big role in both Art Club and theatre productions. I have learned so much from having these big roles, and I really think they have helped me to grow as a person.
To all my other friends I did not specifically mention, thank you for the fun times we have had throughout the years. High school will be a time I will never forget.
