Billie Eilish is the youngest artist to win all top four Grammy categories at only 18. Eilish is also the first to win all four in the same year since Christopher Cross in 1981. She produces music that can be classified in several styles, including; alternative rock, pop music, electropop and indie-pop.
Some students describe Eilish’s music as dark and chill.
“Her music is what I listen to when you just need something chill in the background, but it’s not anything I take to heart,” sophomore Madeline Douglas said. “Billie Eilish is just very chill. It’s just not something that gets you super turnt, but it’s not something that would put you in your feels either.”
Some also think it isn’t very upbeat.
“I think if she made a little more exciting music I would like her more,” sophomore, Alex McCandless said “It’s so dark,” Unlike McCandless, sophomore Kendall White really enjoys Billie Eilish’s music, especially the song “Six Feet Under.”
Billie makes most of her music with Finneas. They collaborate and write most of her songs together and even perform on live shows together. Finneas isn’t just her partner for making music, but also her big brother and producer.
Billie was nominated for Pop Solo Performance, which is limited to single and tracks only, with her song “Bad Guy”. Other songs nominated were; “Spirit” by Beyonce, “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande, and “You Need to Calm Down” by Taylor Swift. Though coming out on top was “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo.
Eilish took home the New Artist Grammy being one of the youngest ever to win that Grammy. Also, Eilish’s album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” won the Pop Vocal Album of the Year and Album of the Year. On that album is “Bad Guy” which won the Record and Song of the Year.
