After the Lady Titan basketball conquered the 4A Sectional, the girls put their heads down to work at their next challenge, Floyd Central, in the Regional championship at Boonville High School.
In the first half, the Lady Titans came out strong, getting to the spots they needed to and knocking them down. The Lady Titans closed out the second quarter with a 10-point lead, 29-19, against the Lady Highlanders.
“Our offense was working very well in the first half,” senior Lauryn Adamson said. “We were getting the shots we needed, and we were executing. We just knew we had to keep working hard because they were going to start the second half ready.”
They just did that, they continued to dominate on both sides of the ball and ended the championship game, 50-39. Coach Kyle Brasher’s Lady Titans captured their first 4A Regional championship.
“I think, reflecting on the game, it was probably our most complete game all season long,” Brasher said. “I thought our defensive intensity was excellent from the jump, and we were able to take Floyd Central out of a lot of what they wanted to do. From a player perspective, we saw a lot of great performances. Gabby was able to take over the game on the offensive end and get to the spots she needed to get to. Paige hit some big buckets and controlled the paint on defense. Lauryn Adamson and Lydia Maurer provided great defense on two of their most important players while we got great play from everyone else in the rotation in a variety of ways.”
The Lady Titans savored their win in the moment but went right back to work as they prepared to travel to Southport to take on Lawrence North in Semi-State.
“We needed to improve in handling pressure a bit more and keeping the ball in front of us on defense,” Brasher said. “We wanted to limit paint touches by Lawrence North and were okay with them shooting contested threes over drives to the basket.”
The Lady Titans followed the game plan to let the Lady Wildcats shoot, and shoot they did, going five for five from the three-point line in the first quarter, making the score 27-13 in the first. The Lady Wildcats never looked back, running the score to 39-19 at halftime.

“I knew Lawrence North would come out strong, and they were able to hit well in streaks,” senior Lydia Maurer said. “I didn’t expect them to hit as many as they did in the first half and especially in the first quarter.”
Starting the third quarter, the Lawrence North Lady Wildcats kept the foot on the pedal, and by the end of the game, the Lady Titans’ basketball 4A run ended, falling with a score of 69-46. “Some adjustments we could have made were making more shots, but I don’t think we took bad shots,” Brasher said. “The shots we took were good and just didn’t drop. On defense, you have to tip your cap to Lawrence North for coming out and shooting the way they did.”
The Gibson Southern Lady Titans ended their 2024-2025 season with a 21-7 record that included an 11-1 Pocket Athletic Conference record.
“I was proud of them and their effort all season long,” Brasher said. “We came out as a 3A school playing up in the 4A tourney and made a run to Semi-State. If the ball bounced a few different ways in that Lawrence North game, then maybe the game could’ve been different too, but the girls should not have hung their heads, as we put the state on notice of how good our players are and how strong of a program we have.”
