Boys basketball postseason draw announced

The boys basketball Sectional Draw took place on Sunday, February 23 in the afternoon. The Titans showed up to R’z Cafe around 2:00 and waited patiently in anticipation.

In sectional 32, there were 6 teams. These teams included Gibson Southern, Heritage Hills, Bosse, Boonville, Mount Vernon, and Memorial. The best team in the sectional, record wise, is Heritage Hills, followed by Bosse. Heritage Hills took the title of best team fundamentally and all around.

The Titans were hoping to repeat last season’s sectional run but hoped to win it all this year. The Titans also had a tougher road this postseason though.

“Nobody expects us to win but we have to go out there and prove them wrong,” Coach Runyan said, “We have to give great effort the whole game and never take breaks.”

The Titans only averaged about 48 points a game and gave up an average of 54 points a game.

“We are going to have to slow them down because they like to run the floor and stop the ball from getting into the post,” senior Adam May said.

The Titans had to worry about the towering 6 foot 10 senior who commited to the University of Houston, Kiyron Powell.

“We will have to help Adam in the post with Kiyron and make them beat us from the outside,” Runyan said.

The Titans had to keep the two deep range dead-eyes of Kolten Sanford and Julian Norris in mind.

“We are not going to allow Sanford to bring the ball up easily,” Runyan said, “ we are going to be all up in him and not give him an easy night.”

The Gibson Southern and Bosse game was the first game of the sectionals followed by Boonville and Mount Vernon. The tip-off was at 5:30. Were the Titans able to take down the hot Bosse Bulldogs?
