Tecumseh volleyball shuts down Lady Titans in three straight

The Lady Titans hosted the Tecumseh Braves on Tuesday, Sept. 20. The Braves were too much to handle, taking out the Titans in three straight sets: 25-19, 25-12 and 25-22.

“I think we competed well and tried our best to keep up with Tecumseh,” junior Gabby Smitha said. “They’re always a really tough team to go up against, but we stayed positive and fought our way throughout the whole game. There are many techniques that we need to work on going forward before the conference shows up.”

Head Coach Emily Schmitt also saw the effort put into the game despite the loss.

The girls fought hard to stay in the game,” Schmitt said. “There were many errors that were made, and it’s really important to control the first pass so that way we can set up an offense to get a point. I felt like the times we really lost hope in the game were when there was a huge point difference in a couple of sets. When we were behind is when we weren’t controlling the first touch.”

According to the players, Tecumseh has a reputation of being a solid team, so keeping close with them in points is an accomplishment.

“I think we did a really good job,” junior Makenna Turner said. “We played with them throughout the game and stayed close in scores. We played better than we have in past years with them, so I think even though we lost, we played great.”

Throughout the season, including Tuesday night, Lauren Adamson leads in kills with 2.1 kills per serve. Abby Deal is top for the Titans with 27 total blocks at the net. Freshman Loren Carl has served 25 aces, and Adamson has 140 digs.

The Lady Titans next game will be held at North High School Sept. 22.
