Laura Rader is the nurse at Gibson Southern High School. She previously stayed at home with her son, then began to work at a digestive care center. She has worked as a nurse for 21 years, graduating from Wabash Valley. Rader has been married to her husband for 20 years and has two children.

Southerner: If you could, would you prefer working from home or would you rather be in the office?
Rader: “I love working from home, but I know that mentally it’s good for me to get out and come to work everyday, so I’m going to say working outside of home.”
Southerner: What was the worst style choice you ever made?
Rader: “Tight rolled jeans in the ‘90s definitely.”
Southerner: Have you ever been told you look like someone famous, who was it?
Rader: “This guy I dated in high school told me I looked like Meryl Streep in the 1980s.”
Southerner: Does your current car have a name? What is it?
Rader: “My kids named her Jodi; it’s a Toyota Highlander, but she does kind of look like a Jodi.”
Southerner: You have your own late night talk show, who do you invite as your first guest?
Rader: “Martin Short because I love him on “Only Murders in the Building.” Everything he says is hilarious, and I think he’d be a really fun guest.”

Southerner: What was your least favorite food as a child? Do you still hate it or do you love it now?
Rader: “I hate shrimp and still hate it because of the texture and the popping thing; it’s just gross.”
Southerner: 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s: Which decade do you love the most and why?
Rader: “The 80s because it was simpler; there were no phones. I was a kid. It’s very nostalgic. The fashions were crazy. The music was good.”
Southerner: What is your favorite item you’ve bought this year?
Rader: “It’s going to sound really boring but curtains; I bought myself these new curtains for my house, and they have butterflies on them, and they’re really pretty.”
Southerner: What is your favorite magical or mythological animal?
Rader: “Centaurs, because they’re cool.”
Southerner: You’re going to sail around the world, what’s the name of your boat?
Rader: “Vitamin C, but spelt S E A.”
