Sophomore Kimberly Gentry has been in band for about five years, playing the flute. Gentry began to play the flute during fifth grade at Fort Branch Community School. If you do not find her playing the flute, you can catch her either watching her favorite TV show, “Friends,” or cross-stitching. Gentry started cross-stitching two years ago, and it is one of her favorite things to do in her free time.

Southern: What is your favorite childhood memory?
Gentry: “My friend surprised me by coming over for a sleepover without me knowing.”
Southern: If you could have a theme song that would play every morning, what would it be and why?
Gentry: “‘The Middle’ by Jimmy Eat World. It’s encouraging and teaches a big audience.”
Southern: If you could meet any famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Gentry: “Robin Williams. No specific reason.”
Southern: If you could time-travel, what event would you travel to?
Gentry: “The 2000s – fire clothes and great music taste.”
Southern: What’s your favorite sport?
Gentry: “Tennis because my dad and brother and I used to play all the time. It is also a really active sport.”

Southern: What’s your favorite book genre, and what’s the last book you have read?
Gentry: “Dystopian. ‘The Inheritance Games’ by Jennifer Lynn Barnes.”
Southern: Where is your dream vacation, and what would you plan to do there?
Gentry: “New York City. I would visit the ‘Friends’ thingymajig or whatever it’s called. I would also listen to music and hang out in a cafe or something.”
Southern: What kind of music do you listen to?
Gentry: “Country and Rock, it matches my personality.”
Southern: Who is your favorite music artist?
Gentry: “Either Eminem or Justin Moore, just because they are my favorite.”
Southern: What is your dream vehicle?
Gentry: “2010 Volkswagen New Beetle, it’s a small, cute car.”
Southern: Do you prefer daytime or nighttime?
Gentry: “Daytime because then I can hang out with my friends or take a walk to a lot of places. That is why I like daytime: then I can go for walks.”
Southern: If you could hang out with any cartoon character, who would it be and why?
Gentry: “Any ‘Family Guy’ character because they look like they always have fun.”
Southern: What is your go-to karaoke song?
Gentry: “‘Rockstar’ by Nickelback, lots of people know it, and it’s fun to sing.”
Southern: Would you rather live in a place where it only snows or in one where the temperature never falls below 100 degrees?
Gentry: “I prefer [where it] only snows because colder weather is more enjoyable than hotter weather. I can barely stand 80 degrees.”
