Originally from Hudsonville, Illinois, 21-year-old McKenna Love is the newest teacher to join the staff of Gibson Southern High School. She graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in December and began her career as a Titan on January 5. She moved away from her family to attend college and now has her first-ever teaching job after graduating.

Southerner: Where did you go to High School?
Love: “I went to high school at Hutsonville High School.”
Southerner: Do you have any family in the area?
Love: “Around here, no. My mom and my dad still live in my hometown.”
Southerner: What is your favorite color?
Love: “My favorite color is green just because I like the outdoors.”
Southerner: What is your favorite animal?
Love: “My favorite animal is probably cats. I have two cats, and they live with my parents in my hometown. I kind of rescued both of them from outdoor situations and just love them.”
Southerner: What is your favorite movie?
Love: “My favorite movie is probably ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,’ just because I think it is the best ‘Hunger Games’ movie, and I love that series.”
Southerner: If you couldn’t be a teacher, what would you be?
Love: “If I couldn’t be a teacher, I probably would have been a school psychologist because I would still want to work with young people.”
The Southern: If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Love: “If I could have any superpower, it would be Invisibility because I would love to be able to go in places I’m not allowed to go, like archives and all the cool places.”
Southerner: What is your favorite sport to play? What is your favorite to watch?
Love: “I used to play volleyball. I played volleyball for seven years and probably the best decision I ever made was to play high school volleyball.”
Southerner: What is your comfort food?
Love: “I would say my comfort food is probably chicken Alfredo.”
Southerner: If you could plan your dream vacation, what would it be? Who would you bring?
Love: “If I could plan any vacation, I would go to Yellowstone National Park. I would bring my boyfriend, Brady.”
Southerner: Would you rather watch a romantic movie or a mystery film?
Love: “I would rather watch a mystery film because I would love to try to figure out the endings before they tell you what actually happened.”
Southerner: In your free time, would you rather read or do an artsy project?
Love: “In my free time, I would rather do an art project because I have to read a lot for work.”
Southerner: What advice would you give to an incoming freshman?
Love: “I would probably tell them to find their people and try out some new clubs and organizations to help them find their people.”
Southerner: If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Love: “As a former history major, that is so hard. But, if I could, I would have dinner with my mother’s grandfather, because I never met him when I was younger, and I would have loved to have had the chance to meet him.”
Southerner: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Love: “ If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in Germany. I did a summer study abroad there, and I loved the culture.”
Southerner: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Love: “I am probably a morning person. I get here pretty early, and I would rather come early than stay late.”
Southerner: What is the most unusual thing on your bucket list?
Love: “I don’t know that this is unusual, but I would like to be the first person in my family to earn a master’s degree.”
Southerner: Do you prefer Marvel or DC?
Love: “I actually know nothing about superheroes.”
Southerner: What is your favorite de-Stressing technique?
Love: “I enjoy going for long walks, and I like hanging out with my friends after work.”
Southerner: What is one thing you’re looking forward to during this month?
Love: “I am looking forward to having our day off on January 19.”
Southerner: If you had the choice to live on the beach in the warm temperatures or in Canada in the cold temperatures?
Love: “I would choose to live in the cold.”
Southerner: What is your favorite hobby?
Love: “My favorite hobby is probably spending time with family and friends.”
Southerner: What is your favorite thing to cook or bake?
Love: “It would probably be Cheese Tortellini.”
